Brixton Pound Hackathon
The Brixton pound (B£) is a local currency in the heart of Brixton community. It is designed to support businesses and encourage local trade and production, with the aim to empower the diversity of the high street and strengthening pride in Brixton.
The fundamental purpose of local currencies is to support smaller shops and traders who are under threat from the recession and larger chains, and to increase local trade and community connections in aid of saving the high street.
As one of our GIVE tenants, Brixton Pound are located on our Community Initiatives floor here at 3Space International House.
To celebrate their 10th birthday later on in the year, they are re-launching their digital currency and are inviting businesses to attend one of their two business consultation workshops in our event space. The fully facilitated ‘hack day’ aims to gather a consensus on a solution that works for Brixton. If you are interested to find out more about The Brixton Pound and how it could work for your business then come along on Saturday 8th June. Attendance will only be required at one session, either 10-12:30 or 13:30-16:00. Free lunch will be provided as well as refreshments. Whether you accept B£s or not, they’d love to have your input to shaping the future of your local currency. To find out more, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
